Blog Post # 3

1. Imbalance; incompatible; incomplete; indecent; inglorious; ingratitude; illegal; illiterate; immature; imperfect; impossible; irrational; irresponsible; insane; intolerant; invariable.

We used different prefixes when writing this kinds of words; for example for words we letters like M,P,B we used im, to indicate the negative form.
for words with letters like R, we used ir to indicate the negative form.
for words starting with L, we used il, and for words starting with all others consonants, we used in.

2.

a. Bat: is a voiceless, alveolar and stop.
Book: is a voiceless, velar, stop.
Cough: is a voiceless, labiodental and fricative.
Ship: is a voiceless, bilabial and stop.

Since all of this words have voiceless phoneme, have S sound, which is also a voiceless sound, in that way the pronunciation is easier.

b. Cab: is voiced, bilabial and stop.
Cave: is voiced, labiodental and fricative.
lad: is voiced, stop and alveolar.
Rag: voiced, velar and stop.
Thing: voiced, velar and nasal.

All of this words, have voiced phoneme, so all of the plurals of this words, have z ending pronunciaction, the purpose of this is also to make the pronunciation much easier.

c. Bus: voiceless, alveolar fricative.
Bush: voiceless, palatal and fricative.
Church: voiceless, palatal and affricative.
Judge: voiced, palatal and affricative.

In this words, are a mix of ending sounds, some uses s sounds and some uses z sounds.

Homework Post #1

Hello, my name is Esthefanya; I was born and raised in Colombia, so the language that I can speak and understand clearly is Spanish, but I can speak and Understand English as well, although I still having some troubles trying to share and communicate my ideas in English.
When I am home the only language that we speak is Spanish, even though my brother answer everything in English. At work I must speak English at all times, and at school I speak both, depends on the people that I am talking to.

I believe that language "happens" by listening to the people around us, in the same way language is acquired; if you are listening to the same language all the times, most probably is that you are going to speak the same way people around you, using the same words and having the same accent. That is way I strongly believe that the way we learn the first language, is not the same we learn a new one, and base on my own experience doing so is very difficult, and I still wonder why learning a new language can be so difficult?.
